My name is Melanie Brown, I am an artist based on the Gold Coast.
While I do not always approach my work with a mindful intent- sometimes capturing an image in a work are beauty, personal prayer , freedom , how we view ourselves in relationships and our constant experience to create a balance of function and wonder at the world we live in. It is also important to me that the viewer forms their own individual message from my work.
In April 2011 I took part in my first group exhibition at a small gallery in Burleigh Heads Gold coast that featured images by local artists on skateboards. I am relatively new to the ‘art scene’ though I have been painting for four years and drawing since I could hold a pencil ( or anything else that enabled me to make my mark)
Currently I am working on images of a larger scale using oil on canvas and fine line pens and markers in drawings.
I find inspiration in street and tattoo art, cultural celebrations, music, photos, and the stories and moments shared with the people I meet.
